Ugo Ehiogu (1972-2017)
The ‘Ones to Watch’ section was named after Ugo, with the list highlighting talented, young people under the age of 30 from an African or Caribbean background who are making an impact within the football industry in the UK.
Ugo was a great supporter of the Football Black List initiative and had previously received a Ones to Watch award for his contributions as a talented, young coach. The former England defender enjoyed a playing career that saw him turn out for Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Rangers. He was dedicated to the game and found great joy in developing young talent, making a true impact in his role as the Tottenham Hotspur’s U-23s coach before he sadly passed away in April 2017. Ugo’s final tweet before his death epitomised his caring nature and generosity encouraging people to #dosomethingkind.
